The Answer Manual

The custom answer manual (free when lab manual is ordered) includes all answers and data required for marking purposes.

The Format

All manuals are printed on standard 8 1/2" by 11" bond and are coil bound.

Any Drawbacks?

The only drawback to custom printing is that you cannot return unsold copies, so you should be careful to order just the number of copies required. If you need more copies, small re-orders can usually be printed and shipped within 48 hours. There are no other drawbacks!

Depth of Coverage

The experiments in the basic DC and AC subject area require students to take many measurements to reinforce measurement skills and to provide a high degree of self-confidence. Later experiments in the solid-state, amplifier and applications subject areas are less rigorous in order to present a broad exposure to students within a more limited time frame.

Lab Preparation Sections

Most experiments incorporate a lab preparation exercise which requires students to read the material prior to doing the actual experiment. This typically requires only 10 to 15 minutes of work. This concept has been very well accepted since its inception in 1992. Lab preparations are optional. The experiments have been designed so that they may be omitted if an instructor wishes, without any ill effects. Lab preparation sheets may be handed in and marked if desired. Experience has shown that most can be marked within 3 or 4 minutes for a class of 20 students. Some instructors choose to post answers at the beginning of the lab session, allowing students to self-check their work. Completing lab preparations boosts students' self-confidence. Students are not inconvenienced by handing in lab preparations since they retain a copy of their work.

Data Summary Sheets

All experiments include data summary sheets where students copy their measurements and answer questions. These may be handed in for marking or instructors may choose to check off data as completed during the lab session. Students always retain their original data for study purposes since they submit only a copy of the data. Copying the data seldom takes more than a minute, a small price to pay in order to retain the original data.

Student Tested Experiments

These experiments have been used at 48 universities, colleges and technical institutes since 1992. Students have consistently expressed a high degree of satisfaction with these lab experiments in various surveys.

Marking Keys

The answer manual includes answers for all measurements and all questions. They are provided free for instructional use.

Accreditation-Ready

These experiments have been used by accredited programs. They have also been used with a variety of texts without any difficulties.

Circuit Simulation

Most circuits have been designed for easy simulation using software such as Electronics Workbench™ and PSPICE™. As an alternative, most lab preparation sections may be completed with simulation software.
